Legendary UK DJ Colin Curtis presents two new superb EPs

Following a string of essential releases in 2022, legendary UK jazz and Northern soul DJ Colin Curtis continues to add to his impressive “Presents” series by putting out EPs from two acts that are at the forefront of the current UK jazz dance scene in Roderick Stewart and Ben Sinkie-led Juju ensemble, and producer and percussionist Glenn Worthington, aka GeeW.

Juju’s 4-track Black Samba EP features a heavy-dose of Brazilian-influenced fusion vibes blending together soulful keys and soaring horns with layered Latin rhythms that will heat up any dance party. The session also notably features vocalist and guitarist Josué Ferriera on the standout track “Clã Samba”, and some additional production work from Ten Lovers Music’s Steve Conry on “Musa” (Cumulative Collective rework).

Building on the foundation of his two other brilliant releases for the Colin Curtis Presents imprint, GeeW’s latest record, titled Deeper Than Black EP blends together heavily layered Latin, broken beat, and jazzy house percussion grooves, mixed with some cosmic keyboards, Rhodes, cosmic tones, lush horns and more.

Prior to both of these EPs being released, these tracks became instant favorites on Colin Curtis’s 3-hour Sunday ‘Jazz Dance And Fusion’ radio show, originally on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, and now on the Staffordshire-based The Hitmix 107.5 FM.

Similar to previous Colin Curtis Presents releases, each EP is limited to just 250 copies with no plans for a repress, and therefore I recommend picking up both records immediately.

Overall, two superb EPs that I expect will be cookin’ on the jazz dancefloor for quite sometime.
