Nanette Natal — It's Over / Love Signs

Two classic 1980 jazz dance cuts from Nanette Natal released as 7inch single

Over the last several year’s Dynamite Cuts, run by Malachi Trout, has been issuing an impressive string of seven-inch singles highlighting essential jazz, funk, and rare groove. Most recently, the London-based label has put out a brilliant new 45rpm release featuring two classic jazz dance gems “It’s Over” and “Love Signs” from Nanette Natal’s 1980 private press full-length My Song of Something.

Both tracks, which feature the dynamic scat singing of Natal backed by some funky uptempo grooves, gained much notoriety on the jazz dance floor scene beginning in the 90s, making the hard-to-find 1980 full-length album much in demand among deejays and collectors. Similar to most of Dynamite Cuts previous releases, this is the first time that both standout tracks from that recording have been included as a single on a seven-inch format.

With a double-sider packing this much heat, while limited to just 550 copies (400 on black vinyl, 150 on red vinyl), it’s probably safe to say that this single will certainly not last long in record shops. Kudos to Dynamite Cuts for another massive release!
