Tramp Records celebrates 5 decades of recordings by trumpeter Frédéric Rabold in new retrospective
Germany’s Tramp Records has put together an expansive 2xLP retrospective release celebrating 80-year old German composer, bandleader and trumpeter Frédéric Rabold, spanning five decades worth of recorded music.
This superb limited-edition 17-track release showcases Rabold’s highly eclectic approach, infusing everything from avant-garde and fusion to Latin and jazz dance. His motto was that there is good and not so good music in all styles, and throughout his impressive recording career he successfully was able to experiment in a lot of areas musically and excel in just about every area he and groups he performed with choose to explore.
Some of the records stand out tracks include the massive dancefloor gems “Spring Feelings” and “Solstice Celebrations”, the hard-hitting jazz-fusion cuts “Beatschön” and “Berlin”, the groove-oriented “Relaxing Walk”, the epic “The Last Of The Past”, with much of the A side of the record highlighting Rabold’s more avant work.
Overall, a well-crafted retrospective release of one of Germany’s most brilliantly talented artists and bandleaders. Highly recommended!
