This week’s BeatCaffeine Record Rundown highlights the brilliant new spiritual jazz album from Tony Burkill’s Work Money Death, a remix release from Italian bassist Rosa Brunello, the Jonny Liebeck Group’s cosmic 7-inch single on Terrasolare, and the celebratory Frisson EP Part 1 on Steve Conry’s superb Ten Lovers Music label.
For our second year-end list, we spotlight 10 standout EP releases from 2025. As in recent years, this list notably includes some superb selections from two standout UK-based labels that continue to put out forward-thinking jazz fusion and peak-time dancefloor material in Steve Conry’s Ten Lovers Music and Colin Curtis Presents imprint. This overall selection of EPs are arguably up their with the year’s best full-length albums, when it comes to quality and impact.
Catching up on some essential releases over the last couple of weeks — this edition of BeatCaffeine’s Weekly Record Rundown highlight’s the superb debut Brazilian flavored album from Babo Moreno, the incredible collaborative EP featuring Brian Jackson, Masters at Work, Omar and others, and the return of two prominent UK-based groups that have released brand new albums, Ruby Rushton and Da Lata.
For this edition of BeatCaffeine’s Weekly Record Rundown, we dive into the remarkable Marc Decho EP for Colin Curtis’s label, the debut 12inch by the new duo project from Italian producers Nicola Conte and Nico Lahs, Right Tempo’s compilation highlighting the golden era of jazz-infused house music, and a superb lo-fi jazz recording by Netherlands-based multi-instrumentalist Ruben Drenth dedicated to the Bonsaika.
When it comes to an EP release, Steve Conry’s Ten Lovers Music seems to have mastered the format with their ongoing Best of Various, and now more recently, The Coin series. The UK-label has just put out Volume 3, which includes selections from Italian pianist and producer Marcello Cassanelli, and a new project from Caruso with Helen McCormack.
The first BeatCaffeine Weekly Record Rundown of 2025 highlights Jazzman Records’ latest volume of their highly-acclaimed Spiritual Jazz compilation series, diving deep into the vaults of the German SABA and MPS labels, a brilliant Night Dreamer direct-to-disc album from legendary Dutch-Surinamese multi-instrumentalist Ronald Snijders, a must-own 7″ from Mukatsuku Records featuring the funky sounds of Italian supergroup Addict Ameba, and a massive soulful jazzy house album from Chicago’s Vick Lavender.
For the label’s 48th release, Steve Conry’s Ten Lovers Music has recently put out Volume 2 of The Coin EP series featuring new tracks from both the Italian brother duo known as The Robinson and Japanese artist Takahiro Fuchigami.
We return to BeatCaffeine’s Weekly Record Rundown, featuring some highly recommended new music recordings that have been recently released. This week includes the latest from cosmic keyboardist Greg Foat, the debut from French duo Bolbec, South African pianist Bokani Dyer’s new remix 12″ on Brownswood, and the return of prolific New Zealand-based producer and saxophonist Nathan Haines.

Highly influential London-based DJ, broadcaster, and producer Gilles Peterson and pioneering multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, and bandleader Jean Paul “Bluey” Maunick (Incognito, Light of The World, Freeez) continue their deep dive into the world of DIY Brit-funk with a limited-edition STR4TA white label 12inch, featuring two new remixes of tracks taken from their 2022 album, STR4TASFEAR.
Residing from Berlin, London, and Melbourne, the Energy Exchange Ensemble (EX Ensemble) has been making waves throughout 2023 with a number of dancefloor-focused digital single releases that have regular rotation from notable DJs like Gilles Peterson, Kev Beadle, Colin Curtis and others. In much anticipation, the highly collaborative collective have recently released their debut, simply titled Energy Exchange Records Vol 1.
Following the release of Brian Jackson’s first solo album in 20 years on BBE Music, simply titled This Is Brian Jackson, the legendary jazz-funk multi-instrumentalist and songwriter gets the remix treatment from two of today’s best producers in Louie Vega and Josh Milan(aka Two Soul Fusion) on the track’s superb second single “Little Orphan Boy”.
For more than two decades, Gerardo Frisina has been one of the most forward-thinking artists to successfully blur the lines between jazz, house, and Afro-Latin rhythms. The Italian producer returns with an incredible new twelve-inch EP on Schema Records, titled Soul Drum, marking his first release in two years.
