STR4TA — Remixes 12

Gilles Peterson & Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick release new STR4TA Remix 12″

Highly influential London-based DJ, broadcaster, and producer Gilles Peterson and pioneering multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, and bandleader Jean Paul “Bluey” Maunick (Incognito, Light of The World, Freeez) continue their deep dive into the world of DIY Brit-funk with a limited-edition STR4TA white label 12inch, featuring two new remixes of tracks taken from their 2022 album, STR4TASFEAR.

Released on Gilles’ Brownswood label, the double-sided hand-stamped single includes Venom‘s (aka Daniel Maunick, son of Bluey) dubbed-out, spacey four-to-the-floor rendition of “To Be As One”, which also includes trumpet star Theo Croker. On the B-side, rising London producer Wallace, who has been recently making his mark with a string of releases and appearances with the formidable Rhythm Section label, turns in a cosmic jazzy-house reworking of “Lazy Days” featuring the brilliant London multi-instrumentalist, producer, and vocalist Emma-Jean Thackray.

Primed perfectly for the dancefloor, this is another collectable release from Gilles and Bluey’s modern-day Brit-funk project.
