NY’s Frederiksberg Records reissues rare 1984 private press spiritual soul-jazz album by Margeeah
New York-based Frederiksberg Records has recently reissued the extremely rare 1984 spiritual soul-jazz private press album, Looking For Love, by Hebrew Israelite vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Margeeah Aharon.
Recorded with the expansive Kingdom Sounds community band at P.C. Studios in Tel Aviv, Israel, this brilliant 8-track full-length is definitely a recording you can’t put into a box musically, as it nicely brings together many influences and styles, from the soulful “Bring The People Home”, and the spiritual groover “Rise Black Spirit” to the boogie jazz-funk gem “Music is My Love” (capturing a similar vibe as Gary Bartz’ “Music Is My Sanctuary”) and the reggae tinged “I Ask The Question” to everything in-between. The album has an overall reflective and uplifting feel throughout.
With original copies skyrocketing to over $300, this well-crafted remastered release from the Frederiksberg label is greatly welcomed, and definitely one of the best reissues released this year.
