Legendary UK DJ Colin Curtis presents Jazz Dance Fusion Volume 4
Legendary UK DJ Colin Curtis, who has been at the forefront of both the jazz dance and Northern soul scenes, has released the fourth volume of his brilliant Jazz Dance Fusion compilation series featuring new and unreleased dancefloor-focused jazz selections that have either previously never been issued on vinyl, or have slid slightly under-the-radar.
This massive two-part 2LP vinyl release (4 LPs Total!) features 26 tracks of music from all corners of the globe, spanning anywhere from vocal jazz and fusion, to samba, Latin grooves and just about everything in-between. Both releases strongly reflect the sound and selections that Colin highlights on his superb weekly Jazz Dance Fusion radio show for The Hitmix 107.5 FM, including a few artists that have seen their own EP releases through the Colin Curtis Presents series like GeeW, Stefano De Santis, Juju, and The Sultan’s Swing.
Some of the other standout highlights include Born 74 and Onj‘s “Tape Your Beat”, Venus Dobson‘s rendition of Carlos Garnett’s “Mother Of The Future”, Steve Conry and Tee Cardaci‘s rework of Guinu‘s electro-cosmic “Eletromandinga”, GeeW’s remix of Chris Bangs and Nova Vida‘s Brazilian-flavored “My Only”, Mary Greer Mudiku‘s spiritual “Happy Sunrise”, trumpeter Bill Ortiz‘s Latin cooker “Fusion/Noche Cubana”, and Charro Band De Emilio Guerrero‘s rendition of Brass Construction’s funk classic “Movin”, with so much more here to dive into.
Great from start to finish, Colin Curtis has once again put together another impressive and well-crafted collection of music that helps highlight an expansive selection of lesser-known artists and jazz dance gems. It’s safe to say that will be hard pressed to find a more essential compilation release this year.
