Jazz Room Records reissues massive Latin jazz album ‘Denga’ from Robin Jones Quintet
Legendary London DJ Paul Murphy and his label Jazz Room Records continue to turn up the heat this summer with another essential in-demand dancefloor gem in Robin Jones Quintet’s 1971 Latin cooker Denga.
Known as the “Godfather of British Latin music,” Robin Jones and company clearly set the bar for Latin jazz with this 13-track masterpiece, featuring a heavy-hitting dose of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazillian rhythms fused with Fender Rhodes grooves, soulful flute and saxophone solos, and driving bass lines. The massive cut “Goodbye Batucada” is also known to be the first Brazilian Jazz Samba tune recorded in the UK.
Another brilliant release from the growing list of must-own jazz dance reissues Paul Murphy continues to unearth through his Jazz Room Record label. You’ll want to move fast on this one, as it’s been flying out of record shops this month.
Also, check out Paul Murphy’s new mix titled Jazz Room In The Chill Out Space, in what he describes as “a nice mixtape for these incredible hot days.” Stay hydrated everyone.
