Jazz Room Records issues 7inch with two funky gems from Urguayan pianist Mike Dogliotti
On top of continuously putting out a number of well-crafted full-length reissues, over the last few year’s Paul Murphy’s Jazz Room Records has also issued a number of essential 7inch releases, often included selections on that format for the first time. That is certainly the case here, with the double-sided single from Urguayan pianist Mike Dogliotti featuring two rare dancefloor gems.
Side A includes the massive Afro-Latin heater “Hagalo” from his 1975 album Llamadas, Ritmo Y Candombe. The track was originally written by the legendary New York-Panama crossover funk group Mandrill, which included on their 1973 groundbreaking recording Composite Truth. On the flip, we get a superb 1976 rendition of Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters all-time jazz-funk classic “Chameleon”.
This is the first time that these tracks appear together on the same record and on a 7inch format, making this another must-own release from Jazz Room Records!
