IG Culture’s LCSM releases Afro-futuristic cosmic jazz soundtrack ‘Earthbound’
UK broken beat legend and producer IG Culture follows up last year’s breakthrough EP1 release under his LCSM ‘Likwid Continual Space Motion’ alias, with a groundbreaking new 18-track Afro-futuristic soundtrack, titled Earthbound on the Amsterdam-based label Super-Sonic Jazz.
This brilliant recording propels listeners into orbit, blending broken beat rhythms and space-age jazz, with driving saxophone lines, otherworldly synth melodies, funky layered percussion, and cosmic grooves.
Written, produced and conceived by IG Cuture, the session also includes a number of great special guests and collaborators, including London artist collective Steam Down, vocalist Natalie May, Alex Phountzi of Selectors Assemble (Bugz In The Attic), Rhythm Section’s Neue Grafik and many others.
The message behind the album is based on the work of author Zecharia Sitchin, who translated ancient Sumerian tablets that explain the origins of humans. The story revolves around the ancient people of Nibiru who return to earth, only to discover that the humans they had once passed down their knowledge are now living in a world of chaos. Encouraged by Super-Sonic Jazz central figures KC The Funkaholic and brothers Vincent and Siemen Tenzer, the full theatre production of Earthbound is planned to debut in late 2020.
From this planet to the next, IG Culture has produced an instant classic, easily one of the most forward-thinking and mind-bending Afro-futuristic recordings you’ll ever hear. Even with all the great music in 2020, it might not be too early to say that the year’s best album just landed.
