STR4TA — After The Rain (Dave Lee Alternative II Mix)

Legendary producer Dave Lee remixes STR4TA’s “After The Rain” on new 12inch

Earlier in the year, two legendary artists in producer, DJ, and radio broadcaster Gilles Peterson and multi-instrumentalist Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick teamed under the name STR4TA to release one of the most groundbreaking records of 2021. This incredible full-length album, titled Aspects, has helped shine a bright light on the Brit-funk sound of the late 70s and early 80s. Fast forward a number of months later, producer and Z Records label boss Dave Lee, who is a legend in his own right, has remixed one of the many standout tracks in “After The Rain”, which is out now on a 12inch single via Brownswood.

In a track that is already primed for the dancefloor, Lee provides even more of a lift on this reworked spaced-out club-ready version, while keeping the essence of the original very much intact. The b-side features an instrumental dub version of the remix.

This brilliant 12inch represents just one of the planned remixed releases featuring music from Aspects, as Colin Curtis will be putting out a limited-edition remix EP sometime during the Fall.

With many great releases from the likes of STR4TA, GALXTC, Koji Ono and others, 2021 is certainly shaping up as the year that Brit-funk finally started to receive it’s well-deserved due.
