Highly acclaimed trumpeter Dave Guy makes solo debut with new 7inch single
Brooklyn-based trumpeter Dave Guy has been a contributing member of some the most groundbreaking groups over the last twenty-plus years, including The Roots, The Dap Kings, Menahan Street Band, El Michels Affair, and The Budos Band, and has shared the stage with everyone from Amy Winehouse and Lizzo to Lee Fields, Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, and others. He now steps out on his own, and releases his debut 7inch release for Big Crown Records.
Side A on the new single features the Latin-flavored soul-jazz groover “Footwork”, which has plenty of feel-good vibes for the dancefloor. On the flip, “Morning Glory” is a head-nodding heater that gives off a Marvin Gaye’s “Trouble Man” meets J Dilla vibe with plenty of swagger.
With Dave Guy’s debut full-length set for release later this year, this impressive first single will only now add to the hype of this much-anticipated release. Highly recommended!
