Greg Foat & Eero Koivistoinen – Feathers

Greg Foat teams up with Finnish saxophone legend Eero Koivistoinen on ‘Feathers’

Building off the foundation of his previous Finnish collaborative recordings for the Jazzaggression label, London-based composer and cosmic jazz keyboard wiz Greg Foat has once again teamed up with a superb cast of Finland-based musicians, including legendary saxophonist Eero Koivistoinen on a brilliant brand new album titled Feathers.

This superb session, which also features bassist Teemu Åkerblom and drummer Aleksi Heinola from the trio recording Gone to the Cats (2021) and percussionist Ilmari Heikinheimo, fuses together cosmic synths and soulful saxophone lines with jazz-funk rhythms and enchanting dreamy textures and tones.

Album comes limited to 1000 copies, sealed with hype sticker and hold a colored insert with photos documenting the recording, which took place over a stormy long weekend in mid-October 2022 at Jazzaggression’s in-house Studio Pelto.

With Feathers, Foat brings his fun-natured animalistic titled trilogy of albums on Jazzaggression to an impressive close (also see 2019’s Gone to the Dogs 10″), delivering arguably the best release of the series and by far one of this year’s most standout jazz records. Highly recommended!
