The Dudley Moore Trio – Amalgam

Dudley Moore Trio’s jazz dance classic “Amalgam” released on limited-edition 7inch

The London-based Trunk Records has recently issued, for the first time on 7inch format, two selections from acclaimed British actor, comedian, composer, and pianist Dudley Moore’s 1969 full-length featuring his trio of bassist Jeff Clyne and drummer Chris Karan.

Limited to just 400 copies, this must-own single includes the jazz dance classic “Amalgam”. Originally recorded with arranger and vocalist Barbara Moore, this incredible piano driven rendition has a tight rhythm groove that definitely hits on the dancefloor. The more laid back Bill Evans-esque cut “Chimes” is included on the b-side.

Several labels have been trying to reissue “Amalgam” for years, so it’s great that Jonny Trunk and his label were able to put this out, even if it’s in a very limited in quantity. Don’t sleep on this one as it continues to fly off shelves and will ultimately be out-of-print very soon!
