Global Highlife Grooves from Auntie Flo
The London-based producer has just released his third album titled Radio Highlife. This recording, which is the first on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label, is the London-based producer’s most ambitious to-date, as he made a conscious effort to infuse an array of different global sounds that he came across over the years from his worldly travels as a deejay.
The album brilliantly fuses together elements of balearic house grooves, jazz instrumentation, African highlife and Caribbean-influenced rhythms. The recording has a very unique and an overall tropical global feel that works both on the dance floor and around the campfire.
The record, which features field recordings and studio sessions from different regions throughout the world including Cuba, Cape Town, Bali, Kampala, Istanbul, Senegal, and Russia, features numerous special guests like Laurie Pitt of Glasgow’s Golden Teacher, Senegalese multi-instrumentalist Mame Ndiack, UK producer and singer Andrew Ashong, and Cuban percussionist Yissy Garcia.
Auntie Flo has produced one of the most forward-thinking albums of 2018, and it’s coming soon to a tropical dance party near you.
