London pianist Greg Foat teams up with Techno legend Linkwood on new electro-jazz full-length
London-based pianist and composer Greg Foat continues his recent string of great releases through the Edinburgh label Athens of the North, teaming up with house and techno legend Linkwood on a great new instrumental full-length recording.
Simply titled Linkwood & Foat, this eight-track album is the first LP to be recorded in the new ‘Athens of the North Studio,’ providing a creative environment that encourages exploration and experimentation. Musically, the album is a nice mix of balearic electronic beats, atmospheric warm tones, and hypnotic meditative grooves featuring spacey synth and electric piano-based melodies. Prior to recording this record, both Linkwood and Greg Foat had returned on separate tropical excursions, and the influence of those experiences seemed to have a notable impact on the session.
Overall, a brilliant and unique collaborative effort from two of the most forward-thinking and highly diverse artists within each of their genres. Highly recommended!
