Far Out Recordings reissues 1971 recording from Brazilian vocal sensation Dila
London’s Far Out Recordings has recently reissued the first and only album from mysterious Brazilian vocalist Dila, who sadly died in a car accident shortly after the release of the record in 1971.
This highly-obscure recording features Dila’s incredible lead vocals backed by a brilliant mix of soulful Samba grooves, funky percussion breaks, scorching horns, and piano-driven melodies. Arranged and produced by Durval Ferreira, the recording was backed by his studio band “Os Grillos” (The Crickets) and features music written by iconic Brazilian composers Arnold Madeiros, Ivan Lins, Tom Jobim and Vinicius De Moraes.
With original copies of this album going for upwards of $600-700, this is another very welcome reissue from Far Out. Don’t sleep, I expect this one to fly off the shelves quickly!
