Enzo Randisi — self-titled, Eating Standing Reissue

Eating Standing label reissues rare jazz fusion gem from Italian vibraphonist Enzo Randisi

Before we look ahead to this year’s forthcoming releases, let’s take a look back at another superb reissue from this past Fall from the Italian-based label Eating Standing in vibraphonist Enzo Randisi’s 1979 highly obscured self-titled album.

Solid from start to finish, this incredible private press 4-track recording is a jazz-funk/fusion masterpiece with a strong CTI Records feel, and includes the jazz dance classic “Probu Zeni”. The session features one of the busiest ensembles on the Italian scene during the 70s and 80s of the last century, and is made up of Enzo on vibes, his son Riccardo on Rhodes and keys, electric bassist Giuseppe Costa, electric guitarist Enzo Palacardo, drummer Franco Lotà and percussionist Mimmo Cafiero.

Two different versions of this well-crafted gatefold reissue was released, featuring extended liner notes, a full interview with Riccardo Randisi, exclusive pictures and more.

At the end of the year, I often state that I’m bound to leave out a few worthy releases in my “end of year lists”, and this is definitely one of those cases. This record is absolutely one of the best reissues of 2023!
