Brazil’s Lucas Arruda releases brilliant new cosmic jazz album ‘Ominira’ on Favorite Recordings
Multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer Lucas Arruda, who’s from the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo (near Rio de Janeiro), has returned with his fourth and arguably best album to date for the superb French label Favorite Recordings, titled Ominira.
This brilliant 9-track recording features a nice blend of sun-drenched cosmic jazz and breezing balearic and AOR grooves, infused with Afro-Brazilian roots and rhythms. The full-length includes everything from the more laid-back cuts like “The Bravest Heart”, “4:28am” and the title track “Ominira”, to jazz dancefloor gems such as “Abraco Pro Ed” and “The Mountain”, spiritual selections like “Chant & Dance”, and plenty more.
The album was fully composed and produced by Arruda with guest appearances from some of his closest musician friends, such as drummer Italo Vinicius, guitarist Thiago Arruda, saxophonist Roger Rocha, and both Flavia K and Andre Motta on vocals.
Great from start to finish, while exploring a lot of different territory musically, Lucas Arruda has really come into his own with this new release, and put out one of the best albums of the year.
Highly recommended!
