For over the past three decades, iconic Michigan producer John Beltran has been one of the leading artists in fusing together experimental electronic music, techno, jazz and Brazilian influences. Building off of both last year’s highly acclaimed Sol Set project and Para Viajeros EP, in addition to his brilliant and ongoing Back To Bahia series, Beltran has returned with a superb new Balearic album on the Turkish label Oath, titled Serendipia.

Soundway’s latest compilation explores forgotten 80s & 90s Balearic Spanish Synth-Pop, Boogie and House

Over the past two decades, Soundway has been at the forefront in unearthing obscure and lost gems from all corners of the world. Through each record they put out, the London-based label is often able to fully tap into the most essential and defining music of a specific region or sub-genre. For their latest compilation, titled Ritmo Fantasía, that is certainly the case, as Venezuelan producer, DJ and record collector Trujillo (aka Andres Astorga) takes listeners on a journey through forgotten 1980s and 1990s era Balearic Spanish synth-pop, boogie and house music.

WONDERFULSOUND release new Balearic 7inch featuring J-Walk and The Hi-Fires

Founded in 2010 by Miles Copeland (bandleader of the lo-fi British pop band The Superimposers), London’s WONDERFULSOUND label have been releasing a wide range of good music for over a decade. In 2018, they launched an exclusive subscription-based 7inch “Singles Club” featuring six releases per year. The label has recently made many of these singles available for non-subscribers, including the brand new double A-side 45rpm release featuring brilliant new Balearic tracks from both J-Walk and The H-Fires.
