BBE reissues Roy Ayers’ 1983 obscure ‘Silver Vibrations’ recording
Originally released in the UK only on Uno Melodic Records, the London-based BBE Music label has reissued the much hard-to-find 1983 album Silver Vibrations from soul jazz legend Roy Ayers.
The seven-track recording is somewhat similar to the vibraphonists’ Lots of Love album, also released 1983, however includes four unique originals and three extended tracks, including an unedited version of the all-time funky classic “Chicago.” Other standout tracks include the uptempo disco cut “Good Good Music,” the boogie-leaning title track “Silver Vibrations,” “Keep On Movin’,” and the laid-back groover “D.C. City.”
Overall, a welcome reissue of this previously hard-to-find and lesser known recording by one of soul jazz’s greatest and most influential artists.
