Azymuth iconic drummer Ivan ‘Mamão’ Conti releases new single ‘Katmandu’
Iconic drummer Ivan ‘Mamão’ Conti of the legendary Brazilian jazz-funk band Azymuth, follows up his stellar 2019 solo album Poison Fruit, with a great new twelve-inch single, titled Katmandu via Far Out Recordings.
Recorded and mixed during the same Poison Fruit sessions, “Katmandu” follows a similar blueprint, blending together funky jazz-influenced percussion rhythms, rootsy electronic samba, and deep bass lines grooves. The track even has a slight early eighties no wave vibe, in the vein of ESG or Liquid Liquid.
Also featured on the release, are superb remixes from highly-acclaimed German nu-jazz collective Jazzanova, MCDE Recordings & Faces Records’ Pablo Valentino, and Croatian house veteran Eddy Ramich with assistance from Zagreb duo Jan Kinčl & Regis Kattie.
When the world gets healthy, and we can all dance together again, Conti’s “Katmandu” will be a prime dancefloor selection for those warm-weather tropical gatherings.
