Athens Of The North release incredible new compilation ‘Disco With A Feeling’

Edinburgh’s Athens Of The North have put out a brand new double vinyl compilation titled Disco With A Feeling featuring many of the label’s most sought after 7inch reissue releases and highly obscure dancefloor gems.

This 16-track compilation was curated by close friend of the label and well-respected Portland-based DJ/selector David Haffner, who has helped license many of their rarest forty-five releases. Featuring a solid mix of obscure and independent disco, boogie, and modern soul, this release includes a number of classic titles that have previously been reissued by Athens of The North, however have been out-of-print for years, like the Popsicles 1983 “These Are The Good Times”, Bileo’s 1979 “You Can Win” and Benita’s “Time For a Change”. The record also features some never-before reissued gems like Cloudburst’s 1977 soulful “I’m Loving You,” Jerry Blacksheer’s “Defected”, Strivers Show Band’s yacht-groover “Love Episode”, and much more. Other standout highlights include two newer reissued disco numbers from AOTN in Love Company’s “Love Tempo” and Gratitude’s “We Are Here to Party”.

Overall, this is definitely one of the best disco compilations of the year, putting a well-deserved spotlight on one Athens Of The North’s most notable contributors in Haffner. Perfect for any party or dancefloor, this is just one of those records that all you need to do is put it on and simply walk away. I recommend snatching up this record quickly!
