UK trumpeter Matthew Halsall releases new explorative album ‘An Ever Changing View’
With over 15 releases to his name since 2008, and the running of his fantastic label Gondwana Records, composer, trumpeter and bandleader Matthew Halsall has been one the most active and prominent jazz artists of his generation. It seems like with each release, the Manchester-based musician continues to push his sound to new heights, and that certainly is the case with his latest brilliant full-length, titled An Ever Changing View.
This new album was heavily inspired by his time in both a beautiful architect’s house with what has been described as breath-taking sea views, and a striking modernist house he resided in during the time he composed the music for this recording. Featuring 10-tracks in all, this new full-length is arguably his most explorative to date, blending together Halsall’s soulful trumpet playing with colorful musical landscapes, layered ambient percussion, cosmic harp textures, field recordings and spiritual jazz influences.
With An Ever Changing View, Halsall has put together another timeless recording that successfully transports the listener sonically to a peaceful meditative state.
