Two Classic Brit-Funk Atmosfear Records Reissued
The Mr. Bongo label has just reissued Atmosfear’s 1981 jazz-funk classic En Trance, a recording that was a pinnacle release during the height of the early eighties underground Brit-funk scene that predominately took place in North West London. The album, which is the band’s only full-length release, includes many great tracks including “Free Tonight,” “Creator’s Dream,” “Funk The Rock,” “Invasion,” and “Return To Lb.”
The UK-based label has also reissued the band’s 1979 breakthrough Dancing in Outer Space 12″, a bonafide dancefloor classic with the shorter edited version “Outer Space” on the flip. The nine-minute single was championed back in the day by Paradise Garage’s Larry Levan, The Loft’s David Mancuso, and many of the most notable British pirate radio stations. The CD version of the En Trance reissue also features the timeless “Dancing in Outer Space” track.
Both En Trance and Dancing In Outer Space represent two of the most monumental British funk recordings of the late seventies and early eighties.
