Over the span of two decades, London’s Jazzman Records’ remarkable Spiritual Jazz compilation series has been uncovering and celebrating deep, esoteric jazz from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, with each volume often focusing on a different region, theme, or influential label. For its latest installment, Spiritual Jazz 18: Behind the Iron Curtain, the label ventures deeper than ever into the hidden world of Cold War-era jazz from the Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe.

Legendary UK DJ, producer and acid jazz pioneer Chris Bangs has just released an incredible new compilation for Ace Records, titled The Playbox, which is essentially his love letter to the jazz dancefloor featuring signature 70s era jazz funk and jazz dance classics.
German-based Tramp Records, who have been one of the leading labels over the past two decades when it comes to unearthing some of the rarest funk, soul and jazz recordings, has just put out a previously never-released-before album from the Stuttgart-based jazz fusion combo Baobab.
