Swedish composer & artist Sven Wunder returns with brilliant fourth album ‘Late Again’
Since the release of the highly-acclaimed debut Eastern Flowers back in 2019, Stockholm-based composer and artist Sven Wunder has quickly built a very strong global following, releasing numerous recordings for both Mr. Bongo and his own label Piano Piano. In September, he will issue his fourth and arguably best full-length to date, titled Late Again.
Inspired by nightfall and the imagery of shooting stars and scattered beams from the setting sun, this brilliant 10-track recording fuses together cosmic jazz and psychedelic tones, with layered horn melodies, cinematic string arrangements, hypnotic folk, and 70s era library music influences. Wunder’s signature elements of brightly colored textures and vibrant melodies are also fully capsulated with the foundation of the music.
Incredible from start to finish, with one track nicely flowing into the next, Wunder has created a sonic journey that is both spiritually meditative and also grooves. Highly recommended, Late Again is definitely one of the best albums of 2023.
