SunPalace’s Brit-funk classic “Rude Movements” remixed by Kenny Dope, Moodymann on new 45 single
BBE Music’s vinyl-only offshoot imprint ALIM has just released a limited-edition 7inch single featuring two incredible remixes of SunPalace’s 1981 Brit-funk classic “Rude Movements” by Detroit’s Moodymann and Kenny Dope of Masters at Work.
Recorded in 1981 at producer Mike Collins’ home studio in London, this track original track came out as the b-side on the SunPalace’s debut 12inch single Winning in 1983. After legendary disco DJ David Mancuso caught the ear of the flip-side track “Rude Movements”, it became a consistent staple at his iconic New York Loft parties.
For this exclusive new release, Moodymann builds on the cosmic jazz vibe of the original by adding some complimentary flute, sax and piano solos over a slightly more punchy percussion groove. Kenny Dope’s “Dancefloor Powder” version adds a well placed vintage Afro-Latin drum break into the mix, which really brings out of the tracks synth solo.
Overall, this is an absolute must-own 7inch single featuring two legendary producers/DJs further enhancing what is already a dancefloor classic. Only available for purchase at the BBE online store, I highly recommend picking up a copy immediately!
