Stellar Japanese fusion trio Nautilus release new album ‘Revival’
Right on the heals of Jazz Room Records’ most recent 7inch release, Japan’s leading jazz fusion/funk trio Nautilus has recently released a brilliant new full-length on the Urban Discos label, titled Revival.
This superb 13-track recording, which marks the group’s 7th album, features the most recent lineup of Toshiyuki Sasaki (drums), Shigeki Umezawa(bass) and Mariko Nakabayashi (keys). The record includes all four collectible 7inch singles released over the past year, plus some newer material like their incredible version of Sébastien Tellier’s 2004 “La Ritournelle” and a cover of Terri Walker’s R&B jam “Caught Up” with guest Emi Tawata on vocals.
With each remarkable release, the Tokyo-based trio continues to make their mark as one of today’s leading and most active jazz-funk groups on the scene.
