ZineLab Transmissions Mix

Special jazz edition of Zinelab Transmissions w/ Moman & TJ Gorton

This past Saturday, BeatCaffeine’s TJ Gorton was a special guest on Morgan ‘Moman’ Nixon‘s weekly two-hour live video streaming show Zinelab Transmission. Often there is a weekly theme tied to each show, and in memory of one of the greatest jazz collectors from Hawaii, Melvin M. Murakami, Moman and TJ played some of their favorite new, rare, and classic jazz records.

Moman featured some incredible selections currently coming out of London, including music by Nubya Garcia, Rosie Turton, NIM Quartet, as well as highlighting the forthcoming Blue Note Re:imagined album, and debuted a brand new Sitka Sun track from their highly anticipated sophomore release. TJ focused on lesser known jazz-funk and soul-jazz selections during the seventies including music from Gary Bartz NTU Troop, Cannonball Adderly, Patrice Rushen, Lorez Alexandria, Horace Silver, and many others. See the full track-listing below. Overall there was just good positive vibes all around, giving those that tuned in a break from some of the often bleak and disturbing things that are currently happening in the world.

Checkout the Moman’s weekly ZineLab Transmission show live every Saturday from 4-6PM PT/ 7-9PM ET on Twitch. There is always fascinating insight to the records being played, incredible guest DJs and a great community of people from all corners of the globe that show up each week and participate in the real-time chat. If you can’t tune in on Saturday, the show is re-posted on his Mixcloud page following the broadcast.
