Soul Jazz Records releases great new compilation of soulful Rocksteady from 60s & 70s
For well over twenty years, there hasn’t been a more definitive collection of releases highlighting the legendary reggae label Studio One than what London’s Soul Jazz Records has managed to curate through expansive compilation releases, exclusive singles, and never-before-heard gems. Their latest release Rocksteady Got Soul is an absolutely brilliant collection of uplifting rocksteady and soulful reggae from the late 1960s and early 1970s.
As with all of the Studio One compilations on Soul Jazz, this incredible 18-track double-vinyl compilation features an unbelievable lineup of legendary reggae artists, including Alton Ellis, John Holt, The Heptones, Jackie Mittoo, The Ethiopians, Sound Dimension, Lee Perry and many others, with a good mix of both classic selections alongside some more obscure titles. For those that enjoy the more soulful side of reggae, this is an essential release to dive into.
This well-crafted release comes with full sleeve notes from author and Studio One authority Rob Chapman, discography and exclusive photography.
As we enter into Spring and begin to approach those warmer days and months, this superb compilation should make for the perfect complimentary soundtrack.
