Right Tempo / Mono Jazz releases volume two of ‘The Jazz Sinners’ compilation series
Building on the acclaim of the first volume The Jazz Sinners compilation series, Italian label Right Tempo/Mono Jazz returns with the second installment, The Jazz In You, further exploring seductive and thrilling jazz from the 1950s and early 1960s.
Compiled by Rocco Pandiani and Giulio “Jazzy Jules” Maini, this superb new 16-track collection slips into the shadows of a dark and smoky jazz club—a world of flickering neon and slow-burning swing, where selections like Gloria Lynne’s velvet-draped title track, Peggy Lee’s after-hours staple “Black Coffee,” Nina Simone’s haunting “Central Park Blues,” Sonny Clark’s hypnotic “Midnight Mambo,” and Joe Harriott’s restless take on Horace Silver’s “Señor Blues” provide the perfect musical backdrop for late-night fare.
Other highlights include Sabu Martinez’s Latin-tinged “Enchantment,” Zoot Sims’s big-band groover “Recado Bossa Nova,” Bobby Timmons’ soulful and laid-back “So Tired,” and Benny Golson’s swaggering “Tippin’ On Thru,” with plenty more nuggets to dive into.
The Jazz In You continues a compilation series that definitely has legs—one that’s less about flaunting rarities and more about locking into atmosphere and vibe, with every selection reinforcing a cohesive after-hours aesthetic that maintains the mood deep into the night. Highly recommended!
