Polish cosmic jazz ensemble EABS teams up with Pakistan trio Jaubi
Two of Astigmatic Records’ most adventurous and groundbreaking artists, in Wrocław, Poland-based spiritual ensemble EABS (Electro-Acoustic Beat Sessions), and Lahore, Pakistan trio Jaubi have teamed-up to release an incredible new full-length, titled In Search of a Better Tomorrow.
Building off a relationship that began a few years a go with the recording of Jaubi’s 2021 impressive debut Nafs At Peace, which included EABS pianist/composer Marek “Latarnik” Pędziwiatr, this 10-track album unites the sounds of Poland and Pakistan with a brilliant melding of Hindustani ragas and Polish jazz, fused with hip hop-influenced rhythms, spaced-out cosmic grooves, and hypnotic tones.
Joining Latarnik (piano, Fender Rhodes Mark II, Nord Stage 2, and Moog Voyager) from EABS on the session is Jakub Kurek (trumpet), Olaf Węgier (saxophones, bass clarinet), Paweł “Wuja HZG” Stachowiak (Bass guitar, Moog Little Phatty), and Marcin Rak on drums. The Juabi trio is made up of Ali Riaz Baqar (guitar), Kashif Ali Dhani (tabla, vocals) and Zohaib Hassan Khan (Sarangi).
Despite this immense distance that separates the two groups, which is 7,000 kilometers apart, these two forward-thinking groups have have come together to release arguably the most spiritually unique and original record of the year. Highly recommended!
