Over the past decade, London’s On The Corner records has been one of the most forward-thinking labels, releasing innovative futuristic music that blurs the lines between jazz, electronic music, African, Latin, broken beat and beyond. In the words of Sun Ra, “knock, knock, knocking at the door to the cosmos,” this label is knocking down all sonic barriers on for their celebratory tenth release, which is a limited edition triple vinyl gatefold compilation out on September 18th, appropriately titled Door of the Cosmos.

To provide a preview of this massive 24-track release, the label has released a number of singles leading up to it’s release next month, including the mind-melting electronic cut “Coucouse Curtain” by Guedra Guedra featuring Taxi Kabir, the Afrobeat-influenced tropical groover “Flameback Dance” from Ariwo, and most recently, the brilliant intergalactic jazz-funk track “Jonny Buck Buck” from London-based trio Edrix Puzzle, which is led by percussionist Nathan ‘Tugg’ Curran of Planet Battagon (who also contribute the track “Wezlee’s Disco Inferno” to the record).

The compilation also features music by Azu Tiwaline, Cinna Peyghamy, Khalab, Dengue Dengue Dengue, JD Twitch, BKCLX, Don Korto, Uffe, Clive From Accounts, Jose Marquez, Tamar Collocutor, Don Korto, Batida, Karlon, Petwo Evans, Sunken Cages, Babani Soundsystem, and Collocutor, alongside remixes from Quixosis, Taxi Kabir, Afrikan Science, Iyer, Nicola Cruz and Rebecca Vasmant.

This extremely limited-edition release also comes with a magnificent poster by the amazing UK artist Victoria Toppings, who does all the artwork for the label.

With this milestone release, On The Corner continue to prove that they are arguably the most groundbreaking and futuristic genre-bending labels on this planet and beyond. The door to the cosmos seem to have swung wide open, and their certainly seems like a lot to explore.
