London-based multi-instrumentalist, DJ, and producer Emma-Jean Thackray follows up her 2018 breakthrough Ley Lines EP on The Vinyl Factory imprint with a brilliant new cosmic jazz recording, titled Rain Dance, released on her brand new label Movementt.

This new four-track EP sees an expansion of the same brilliance that we saw on the last recording, featuring a nice mix of jazz instrumentation, especially her virtuosic trumpet melodies, with electronic-based dance breakbeats, spacey hypnotic tones, and thumping house-influences grooves. Where Thackray played and recorded all the music on Ley Lines in her home studio, this recording she features her band featuring drummer Dougal Taylor, Ben Kelly on bass, Elliot Galvin on synths, and Lyle Barton on Rhodes.

Rain Dance is uniquely versatile recording that should appeal both to jazz heads and DJs, as it works nicely in the concert hall and on the dancefloor. Overall, another impressive release from one of the UK’s most creative minds.
