Manchester trumpeter Matthew Halsall releases limited-edition 12″ EP ‘Bright Sparkling Light’
Originally conceived as a Fall 2023 tour only exclusive, Manchester-based trumpeter, composer and the mind behind Gondwana Records, Matthew Halsall has re-released a brilliant new 12″ EP, titled Bright Sparkling Light.
Recorded alongside the same session that produced last year’s incredible full-length An Ever Changing View, this three-track record features a similar sound as the most recent album, blending together Halsell’s soulful trumpet playing with colorful musical landscapes, layered ambient percussion, cosmic harp textures, and hypnotic meditative grooves. Without a doubt, this is modern spiritual jazz at it’s absolute best.
The well-crafted packaging includes handmade fonts designed by Ian Anderson and a beautifully realized embossed artwork. Limited to 2,000 copies and selling extremely quickly (so move fast!), this will be the final pressing of this release.
It’s only the beginning of Spring, however it’s safe to say that this timeless record will be at the top of the “must-own” releases of 2024.
