Tenderlonious — Still Flute

London’s Tenderlonious brings it all together on his brilliant new genre-defying album ‘Still Flute’

Producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and 22a label boss, Ed ‘Tenderlonious’ Cawthorne continues to make his mark as one of the most pioneering musicians of our time, through his explorations of jazz, house, electronic music, and Hindustani classical. After a series of remarkable albums that have individually focused on those sounds, the London-based artist has brought all those elements and influences together on a brilliant new album, titled Still Flute.

From jazz-influenced deep house jams like “Song for My Mother” (which is obvious an original play on his breakthrough rendition of “Song for My Father”) and title track “Still Flute,” to P-funk grooves, spiritual ragas, and experimental ambient electronic tones, this genre-defying 10-track recording touches all bases and then some.

As the title of the album suggests, Tenderlonious’ signature live flute solos have a strong presence on many selections throughout the recording, however so does his spaced-out synth and programmed beat production work, which has been prevalent on some of his most recent releases.

Overall, this is an incredibly original and unique recording, in which Cawthorne has managed to successfully bring together the widest array of influences and make it all work together beautifully. With each release, Tenderlonious’ music continues to shift, evolve, and push the boundaries well beyond and into new orbits.
