London’s Huw Marc Bennett releases new soulful electric tropical album ‘Tresilian Bay’
London-based producer and bassist Huw Marc Bennett returns, following his superb Gambian-rooted electronic 2016 Soundway release Keira under the alias Susso, with another brilliant and forward-thinking full-length on the Albert’s Favourites label, titled Tresilian Bay.
Inspired by the music of Tim Maia, Augustus Pablo, Idris Muhammed and UK’s thriving jazz scene, this eight-track album has a uniquely innovative sound, bringing together a wide array of global influenced sounds, resulting in a recording that cannot be pigeonholed into any single category. Great from start to finish, the record fuses together South London electronica, Brazilian funk, Nigerian Afrobeat, Ghanaian Highlife, reggae and a touch of Welsh psychedelia.
Even though we find ourselves entering the fall season, Huw Marc Bennett has put together a remarkable recording of feel-good tropical vibes that should be able to keep us warm during the cooler months.
