Wildflower — Season 2

London groove-based trio Wildflower release new album ‘Season 2’

The stellar London-based trio, featuring bassist and founding member of Ill Considered Leon Brichard, saxophonist and reeds player Idris Rahman (also of Soothsayers), and drummer Tom Skinner of both Sons of Kemet and Hello Skinny, have released a great new album, titled Season 2 through Ill Considered’s very much DIY label.

Building off of the core foundational sound that was present on the band’s breakthrough 2017 debut, their new seven-track recording blends Rahman’s saxophone, flute, and clarinet harmonies, with Brichard’s deep bass lines, and Skinner’s funky groove-oriented rhythms. The music has an overall folk-like spiritual vibe, with each musician having a lot of space for improvisation and exploration.

Great from start to finish, Season 2 is a brilliant sophomore release from an impressive group, featuring three boundary-pushing artists currently making waves in the UK jazz scene.
