Kyoto multi-instrumentalist Jules Brennan releases innovative jazz-funk 7inch
UK/Yorkshire-born and now Kyoto-based multi-instrumentalist Jules Brennan, who first made his mark in the 90s acid jazz and hip-hop in Nottingham, has recently released a brilliant new 7inch single on the London Diplomats Of Soul label, featuring two highly adventurous and innovative jazz-funk tracks.
Officially released near the end of 2021, both tracks “Jongara Zeus” and “Koto’s Revenge” on this uniquely original record blend together jazz-funk and break-beat grooves with cosmic soundscapes, cinematic textures, and Japanese-rooted instrumentation. The music is primed for the dancefloor, and could also make for excellent soundtrack material.
Overall, I really outstanding and fresh sounding single release for Brennan and Diplomats Of Soul. Hopefully more of this is well on it’s way or in the works.
