Kev Beadle’s Mind Fluid Music reissues 1975 vocal jazz dance gems by Jan Tober & Ron Satterfield
Highly-influential UK-based DJ, compilation curator, producer, and radio presenter Kev Beadle has just reissued a selection of essential tracks from Jan Tober and Ron Satterfield’s extremely obscure 1975 vocal jazz masterpiece As Long As There’s Music.
Featuring four tracks on a limited-edition 7inch , this release features a breezy fusion of Samba, Latin jazz, jazz-funk and folk, blended together with Tober and Satterfield’s feel-good duel vocals. The record kicks off with the vocal jazz dance classic “What Game Shall We Play Today,” originally written by Chick Corea and featured on his 1972 Return to Forever album. Another notable track is “Focus,” which is an uptempo Brazilian-inspired groover that also works nicely on jazz dancefloors.
With original copies of As Long As There’s Music going now for upwards of $900, making some of the albums most notable tracks available again in a 7inch format. With only 250 copies pressed, I highly recommend picking up a copy immediately!
