JD73’s Electrio releases brilliant new 70s jazz-funk inspired live recording ‘Pyramid’
Led by keyboard guru and producer Dan Goldman, the UK-based live trio version of JD73, featuring electric bassist Hamlet Luton and drummer Gordon Kilroy have released a great new live album titled Pyramid.
Recorded in Leeds back in November of 2017, this eight-track recording brilliantly captures the spirit of seventies-era jazz-funk, inspired by the likes of Herbie Hancock and The Headhunters, George Duke, Bob James, Ronnie Foster, Alphonze Mouzon, and others. Primed for the jazz dancefloor, Goldman leads the way with a combination of Fender Rhodes, Clavinet and synths, backed by funky bass and percussion grooves.
Released by Atjazz Record Company, and already seeing heavy rotation from Gilles Peterson, Colin Curtis and others, this recording has strong potential of making waves in 2021. I would definitely hurry up and order a copy though, I’m hearing that their are only a limited number of vinyl copies left (already)!
