Jazz Room Records releases Takumi Moriya Black Nation’s rendition of “Merry Go Round”
Paul Murphy’s Jazz Room Records follows up last year’s massive 7inch release of Takumi Moriya Black Nation’s take on Joe McPhee’s “Shakey Jake” with a new 10inch single from the Japanese producer and bassist featuring his brilliant new rendition of Terumasa Hino’s 1981 jazz dance classic “Merry Go Round”.
Coming in at eight-and-half minutes, this new version of the Japanese jazz fusion staple is a heavy hitter primed for those peak moments on the dancefloor. It turns the heat up a notch on the original, with the drum rhythms more out front, however never losing the song’s core foundation. Let’s be honest, when this thing drops, you might want to call an ambulance because this is not for the faint of hearted.
Inspired by the track “12000RPM” from NikNaks album “Ireti” on the Matthew Herbert label Accidental Records, the flip features a futuristic bombastic broken beat remix of the track that will surely melt your face off (but in a good way).
Once again, the collaboration of Takumi Moriya and Paul Murphy/Jazz Room Records has resulted in revisioning an all-time classic track, and pushed it forward into the future. Only 300 copies, so make sure to snatch this one up quickly!
