The Electric Jazzroom EP

Jazz Room Records releases new 45rpm single featuring two essential jazz dance classics

Paul Murphy’s Jazz Room Records continues it’s string of incredible “must-own” releases with a brand new 7inch single, titled The Electric Jazz Room EP, revisiting two essential selections that made their mark at the underground jazz dance nights like Shiftless Shuffle, The Horseshoe, Electric Ballroom, and others in London.

Side A features “Caliente”, a wildly infectious track recorded by a Latin supergroup made up of Descarga pioneer Israel “Cachao” López, pianist Paquito Hechavarría (Miami Sound Machine, Orquesta Riverside), renowned Latin percussionist Walfredo De Los Reyes, and vibraphonist Tany Gil. The track was originally included on the group’s highly obscure 1981 Walpataca album.

On the flip, the 45rpm release includes European-based jazz ensemble Vienna Art Orchestra‘s adventurous rendition of Bud Powell classic “Un Poco Loco”, originally featured on the group’s expansive 1983 album From No Time to Rag Time.

Another fantastic release from Murphy and Jazz Room Records, continuing to keep the “jazzfloor” vibes very much alive in 2021!
