Highly innovative Italian drummer, composer, and producer Tommaso Cappellato, who has recently relocated to Los Angeles, launches his new Domanda Music label with a brilliant cosmic jazz recording, titled Pioneered, featuring an impressive cast of musicians like Shahzad Ismaily, Jaimie Branch, Val Jeanty, Afrikan Sciences, Michael Blake, Yusuke Yamamoto, Donato Dozzy, and others. 

Incredible from start to finish, this eight-track recording will undoubtedly have the listener orbiting sonically through space with it’s mind-melting blend of cosmic jazz grooves, electronic textures, and multi-layered Earthy ambient tones, backed by adventurous percussion rhythms. The recording is spiritually meditative as well as experimental and free, blurring the lines of any one genre.

The album was recorded in 2018 during Cappellato’s month-long residency at the venerable Brooklyn contemporary arts space Pioneer Works.

Overall, a superb new recording from one of the most active, musically diverse, and forward-thinking artists exploring new ground in music today.
