Innovative trio Wildflower release brilliant new recording ‘Better Times’ on Tropic of Love
The innovative London-based trio, featuring bassist and founding member of Ill Considered Leon Brichard, saxophonist Idris Rahman (Soothsayers), and drummer Tom Skinner (Sons of Kemet), have followed up last year’s outstanding album Season 2, with a brilliant new four-track EP, titled Better Times. This also marks the debut release on notable London-based Portuguese DJ Mafalda Daniel‘s new label Tropic of Love Music.
Building off of the core foundational folk-like spiritual vibe that is strongly present on the group’s past two releases, the music features groove-heavy rhythms and melodic tones, combined with an open approach that allows space for improvisation and exploration. Each song references a different color to help reflect the overall mood and feeling of the piece, creating an immersive and engaging experience for the listener to dive into.
Great from start to finish, this superb new release sold out within three days of it being available to order on Bandcamp (with another 100 on the way). There seem to be a few floating around still in record shops on the web, therefore I highly recommend hunting down a copy as soon as possible.
With another great release under their belt, this impressive trio continues to make waves and establish themselves as one of the most prominent groups among the UK jazz scene.
