Innovative German guitarist JJ Whitefield releases cosmic spiritual jazz album ‘The Infinity of Nothingness’
Innovative German guitarist JJ Whitefield, who was a founding member of the pioneering acid jazz group Poets Of Rhythm and later, the The Whitefield Brothers, has been a musical explorer over the past few decades, from his experimental Afro-funk project under the alias Karl Hector to his Kraut-rock and ambient recordings via his Rodinia alter-ego, collaborations with legendary Montenegrin-French composer Janko Nilovic and more. For his first release with London’s Jazzman Records, Whitefield dives into the world of spiritual jazz with a new album titled, The Infinity of Nothingness.
Influenced by music pioneers Sun Ra and Pharoah Sanders, this superb 6-track 37-minute cosmic venture into the astral planes features a combination of lush, meditative and spiritual instrumental grooves with hypnotic textures, earthy tones, souring horns, spacey keys and rhythmic percussion.
Great from start to finish with a nice cohesive flow from one song to the next, The Infinity of Nothingness is another brilliant release from an artist that is continuously pushing the boundaries musically and putting something out into the world that is unique and timeless.
