Funk 45: Gentle’s Rare 1975 Soulful Funk Gem “Easy Greasy”
The first ‘Funk 45’ selection of 2019, is the extremely rare seventies soulful funk recording “Easy Greasy” by the little known group Gentle.
Released in 1975 on the Leo Mini label in New York, the dancefloor gem is broken up into two parts, rounding out both side A and B. Original copies of the recording are extremely obscure and therefore very expensive, going for upwards around $2,500.
Luckily, the forty-five has been recently restored and reissued by the Suncut label, making it much more accessible and affordable for everyone. Given how difficult it was for collectors to come across this track for a number of decades, I anticipate this newer reissue will go quickly. I would highly recommend snatching a copy (or two) soon!
