Favorite Recordings releases jazz-funk/disco single ‘Recalling You’ by Andre Solomko
Paris-based label Favorite Recordings has recently released a great new disco-influenced jazz-funk single “Recalling You” from Finland-based saxophonist and producer Andre Solomko.
Following up on his breakthrough 2018 dance floor groover “Le Premier Disco Sans Toi,” this new single brings together elements of two previous compositions released by the longtime Favorite Recordings artist, 2011’s “I Recall” and 2014’s “Teasing You”.
Recorded live to analog tape, the track features a nice blend of multi-layered horns led by Solomko on saxophone, soulful lead-vocals from Charlotta Kerbs, Toni Nordlund’s disco-influenced percussion rhythms, and spacey hypnotic melodies by keyboardist Antti Utriainen.
Quite possibly Solomko’s best single release to date, “Recalling You” is a great new track that blurs the line between jazz, disco, soul, and early eighties Brit-funk, and therefore should appeal to a wide audience.
