Energy Exchange Exchange releases highly collaborative jazz dancefloor-focused debut
Residing from Berlin, London, and Melbourne, the Energy Exchange Ensemble (EX Ensemble) has been making waves throughout 2023 with a number of dancefloor-focused digital single releases that have regular rotation from notable DJs like Gilles Peterson, Kev Beadle, Colin Curtis and others. In much anticipation, the highly collaborative collective have recently released their debut, simply titled Energy Exchange Records Vol 1.
Recorded in three cities over 12 months, EX Ensemble spawned from numerous impromptu after hours sessions under the guidance of the Energy Exchange Records production team. The superb six-track recording blends together jazz, soulful house, broken beat, futuristic grooves, analog-based instrumentation and more, all with a strong nod to the dancefloor. The record’s opening track, “Lime Green Skies” is a strong contender for BeatCaffeine’s song of the year!
Some of the notable artists on the session is vocalist and pianist Allysha Joy (Melbourne), guitarist and vocalist Oscar Jerome (London), vocalist King Owusu (London), keyboardist Lewis Moody (Melborne/London), Ziggy Zeitgeist (Melbourne), and Berlin-based producer Cody Currie aka CC Dance Orchestra.
Overall, this is an impressive debut recording, bringing together some of the most forward-thinking and creative artists residing out of three prominent global music scenes.
